Zoo Med 501 Canister filter/turnover rates

    Well, I waited too long for the Via Aqua for $44 (that and much more went
    for an anniversary gift to my wife) and am wondering if anyone has tried the above filter for smaller tanks. Its output is 79gph and they say it can drive a 30 gallon tank. I'm thinking that's a little light, any thoughts? Also what do you think is an ideal turnover rate for canister filtration: 2,3,4 times tank volume per hour? More?
