Hi guys

Just wondering where I can find a book or articles that cover the various types of algae, how they arise and how to treat/remedy it.

I bought a Julian Sprung book, but it turned out to be for Marine tanks only :-(

Waste of $50...

Cheers

I found this article to be helpful http://www.barrreport.com/showthread.php/6166-Methods-algae-control-or-growing-plants/page4
There is also an article on allelopathy having any significant effect on algae in aquariums http://www.barrreport.com/showthrea...ignificant-effect-on-algae-in-aquariums/page4

and the Dusko Bojic article is not bad, http://www.aquariumalgae.blogspot.com/
I believe Tom has pointed to it on occasion as a well thought out article. There are a few places in Dusko Bojic's article where Tom and Dusko differ, like the KH they keep, but some good information for an introduction to the types of algae we see in planted tanks.

Dusko's write up is about the best.

I'm reluctant to discuss algae for a few reasons and putting it in a book is not the best way either since new algae and new treatments pop up pretty quick.
Another reason is more related to the goal: growing plants. We all slip up there and algae is the motivation to stay on top of things.
