Due to popular demand, here are my sources for top quality CGA nuts, nipples, and in-port filters.

For chrome plated brass and stainless steel CGA nuts, nipples, and filters, go to this link:

http://www.jandrweldingsupply.com/store/Smith/SpecMenu.html

Once there, on the left you will see a screen you can scroll down. Scroll down till you see "Accessories."

Click on:
"CGA Parts, Tube Fittings,
Replacement Gauges"

From this page you will be able to order components. You can also request that they send you the components via USPS Priority Mail flat rate box, which will get to you within 3 days. It will also save you some money to request this shipping option.

For brass 3" CGA nut and nipple, you can go here:

http://www.regulatortorchrepair.com/store.php/products/cga-320-nut-and-nipple

Again, you may be able to get these parts cheaper, but the ones I listed above are top quality. I use them myself on all my rigs.

Additional Info:

The chrome plated brass and plain brass CGA nipples (stems) come with a pre-installed filter. You do not need to buy one.
The stainless steel nipple (stem) does not come with a pre-installed filter. For this option, it is recommended that you buy an in-port filter ($13 on the listed website). A filter is especially important if you use a steel CO2 tank--less important if you use an aluminum one.

Hope this helps.

If you need some parts chrome plated, try Chromemasters. They can chrome plate your JBJ bubble counters and other parts.

Ideal can chrome plate their needle valves. Usually 10 are needed for a production run. Contact Bill Sand.

I can vouch for chromemasters. They do quality work. Had a couple JBJ bubble counters chromed out there.

ideal now sells the chrome valves individually. You can just order one.

Also, I get my chrome inlets and nuts from Jim at regulatortorchrepair.com. Great guy to deal with.

Yeah, Jim is a cool guy. Both places are good for CGA stems/nipples and nuts.

That's great news. I have 4 chrome ones that could use the chrome Vernier micrometer handles.

A couple of years ago we got up a group buy to get ten 52-1-12 needle valves chrome plated. One valve didn't make it and we ended with nine. At that time, Bill needed a minimum of 10 units for a chrome or nickle plate run. Instead of me getting five valves, I ended with four which was OK. It is good that he is selling them individually now. Do you have prices?

When I had them done, they were $13 each plus shipping.

Yeah, and it was a fairly fast turn around. you just have to make sure you disassemble your bubble counter (keep the plastic tube and washers and send the metal components).

chrome 320 cga

the link you provided takes me to ordering a smith chrome cga steam - how long is that one? I ordered one from airgas and it is 3" (which is too long) and I was told that victor sold a 2" one, but I placed an order for one of those with weldfabulous and it is taking awhile :(

The stainless nut and stem is 2" but dose not come with the filter. Smith dose not seem to carry the internal stem filter any more. Is there a filter that fits the smith stems?

I talked to Andrew there and he said the filter had been discontinued. I confirmed that when I emailed Smith about the filter. Smith could not even give me a replacement part number, just said that stem no longer had the filter available. Hopefully there is an other filter that will fit the Smith stem.

I wonder why the discontinued that filter. You can, however, purchase any filter that will fit in a 1/4" npt port. The filter is essential when using a steel tank, but less important if you use only aluminum tanks. I run one in my SGT500 for an extra added layer of protection. I have nothing but aluminum tanks, so I don't have to worry about rust or debris particles as much.
