Thank you.
But can you explain the intent with this part of the forum?
regards,
Nicklas

This must be the forum where we learn all of the secret handshakes, the code words, and just get to feel superior. I'm having a hard time understanding what other benefit it adds.

Well ... if we don't take into consideration the great value proposition that a one time subscription fee is ... for example I am a member of another forum that costs me $869 a month ...

Two key things ...

One of the things that Tom wanted was for a new part of the website to make available real tangible products and other special deals ... while not quite ready to roll out, we have a new feature in the works that will provide ways for subscribers and lifetime subscribers to earn points that can be redeemed for real "stuff" ...

Sometimes these "stuff" things will only be available to Lifetime Subscribers ... sometimes they will be available to both Lifetime Subscribers as well as annual subscribers.

A second factor is that some of our long time subscribers are valuable contributors to the Barr Report, so this gives us a place that is a little more exclusive ... as we add new features to the Barr Report, you are likely to be the first to see and hear about them ... it is easy for the "voices" of our lifetime subscribers to be lost in the public and private forums, but in here we have a pretty tight knit group of people ...

Sometimes I might try something turns out to be a really bad idea even though in theory it sounded like it might be a great one ... for example, for a little while I integrated our profile system into the Zoints Profile Network where each of our subscribers could have their own blog, photo gallery, and other social networking functions that could more accurately reflect their broader personal life interests beyond just planted aquariums ... sure sounded like a great idea to me! In practice perhaps it is not ...

There are a couple other "features" of the website that even Tom "hates" ... we will continue to try to improve the Barr Report website for our subscribers ... and this also allows us to provide special rewards for our Lifetime Subscribers ...

Now I see the point! When I add all of that to being able to post comments here without bothering to shave, and even wearing a ratty tee shirt, it becomes a real benefit. (Just joking!) Just so I don't come across as too anti-social, I promise to apply my deodorant before commenting though.

The point system etc (givaways) sounds great. But I fear it would only benefit citizens from USA/Canada. Postal fees are often to big to send oversees. Heck, Im going to bugger you all with more questions instead  (and Im NOT going to wear deodorant)

What if I die rock climbing in Yosemite or Mt biking the Downieville Downhill?
Or am found frozen in Nepal on some peak?

Point is, I may very well beat all of you:)

2035?
About retirement age for me, haha
