weekly water changes

Hi, I am a little confused about the procedure I use to do my weekly water change in my 40 G tank. I empty about 50%, then add a cap full of chlorine remover to the tank, then start filling it back up with a hose connected to my sink. Now, should I be filling a bucket of water, use chlorine remover, then add that to the tank? Thanks, Ron

I do as you do. I siphon out half or more of the water. Add the Prime to the remaining water. Fill the tank back up from the tap, mixing hot and cold water to get near the right temperature, as judged by my finger. From what I have read here and elsewhere, most folks do the same.
