Good news to anyone successfully land the Parker Hannifin H3L Metering valve, there is burkert solenoid available, about 1/10 of the retail, it is the model 2822, miniature solenoid and much better than the burkert 6011.

The burkert 2822 is $200+ retail, stainless steel, only made in Germany, you can't even find this model on Burkert USA website, and have to special order and ship from Germany.
it is only 2 watt power consumption, the lowest power consumption I 've seen on the 1/8" npt ported solenoid.

Actually I've been eyeing this solenoid for more than a year, only see it available recently and the seller sell it at $25.

ebay keyword, "burkert 2822"

Th BUrkert 6011 is made in Germany as well. I'm sure that if you talk to a Burkert Rep, they will be able to aquire the valve you need (regardless of whether or not they are on the USA website). But that is one heck of a good price.

I don't know what you are basing your statement on when you say that the 2822 is "much better than the burkert 6011." Can you elaborate on why you think that this less known valve is better than what is considered by some the gold standard of quality solenoids?

Has anyone actually used this valve for our application? If so, how long have they run it on their system?

As you can prob tell, I'm the type of person who will take real world experiences over data sheets and specs. We all know that data sheets and specs can look good, but, in actual use, fall short.

Burkert provides us with a good product nonetheless.

The electrical connections (absence of a power cord) is a make or break deal for me. Just looks to messy. I like a good old sturdy 18/3 ga. 3 prong plug. That's one of the reasons I was never interested in the Mouse Solenoid (that and it's made by Clippard). To each, their own.

so don't miss the chance, try it, :D

I'm not as adventurous as you are when it comes to components. My Burkert type 6011 has worked flawlessly everyday since 11/2010, so I doubt I'll be in need of another solenoid anytime soon. :) That said, I'm sure someone will buy one. Please let us know if it works. The electrical wires look fugly -- a real make or break issue for me.

I was wondering what the differences are too. oldpunk suggested that I look at its pdf. I posted some of the differences (see below), I am very rusty though. :) It can be fitted with the same 2507 cable plug as the 6011 uses. We can get them from Burkert and freshwatersystems.com.

It is $31 now and not $25. Still a good deal, though.

That one in particular cannot be fitted with the cable plug. I know the pdf says it can. The only way to get a clean install is with some solder and shrink wrap work.

Thanks for the info about the seal material and the cable plug info. It looked at its pictures on eBay and I thought that the cable plug should be swapped out. That's what I get from just reading the pdf's and being rusty. :culpability: I'm glad that you like your 2822. Did you get yours for $25?

$31 is better than $48, but that price might go up now that there is a lot of attention on it.

Yep, I'd expect that.
Nice needle valves use to run 20$ on ebay.

Stainless steel is a nice look, sexy etc, but not required for us, but then again, neither is a dual gauge. I still like cool nice stuff.

The price has gone up to $40 now. :(

In addition, since the 2822 is a 24VDC solenoid, wouldn't an additional AC adapter be required (additional cost)?

No. That is for AC current.

The 24V DC Burkert solenoids have two wires coming out of their cable plug instead of 3. You just connect the two wires of your 24V DC transformer singly to the solenoid's two wires. It isn't directional. Polarity doesn't matter.

Which 24V DC Burkert solenoid did you get? The 6011?

Ah, I see. I got confused between the two.

I got the 2282.
Thanks
