And Merry Christmas!
I just reread an amazingly helpful post from you. It reminds me of the force you are in this aquatic world we love.
Thank you for all you do for so many!

Nag? Oh so you're the tank controller than doesn't have a reset button? Joking... I will admit I've read some threads. I like your style. Its all about the facts.

I might be wrong........but.........it's about the topic, not about me.

I wanted to bump this up a little.. and also say Thank you Tom. I've read a lot of your posts and have gathered valuable information. I just paid for a life time membership. Not because I want to be able to get access to everything.. but more because I want to support the work that you do.

Haha, with a screen name like yours, I thought there's be something ironic in the post:)

I actually get no $ support from any of the fees people pay on this web site.
Zero 0.00$

Greg Watson manages that and pays for the server and software and everything else other than what I write etc.
He does most of the work.

Now those fees do not come close to paying the bills, but both he and I do not care. This is the hobby and NOT dealing with advertisers is well.......sweet!
Little $, but no drama. Still operating at loss is not bad, as other business cost that would be taxable are written off here.
So it's not quite the loss we might think it is.

I trim my tank and sell plants, but while I might make a 200$ a month off that, I do not get paid for my labor.
I'm operating at a loss there as well. So I sell wood, do consulting and have clients.

The best way to return the favor is to help others. It's quite amazing and makes you feel better.
It's pretty much what life is about.

Greg helps me, I think I help him, I help you, you help the next guy, pay it forward type of thing.

Ha ha about the screen name, I've used it for a while and now i've gotten used to it. I understand what you say about making money in the hobby. It is hard, But i guess the entire community benefits when a few people like you go the extra mile for the hobby. And it has to start somewhere and I think for me, it starts with you. Tom helped me and I will help someone else.

EDIT: Thank you Greg. Running a forum is never easy (personal experience ;) )

Well, the loss of ads makes running a forum much easier. So that is a $ trade off.

But as I say, by helping others, we also help the future. We are not long in this world, but the future is. So it's wise to help others.
That is how best to return all the favors done to you over the years.
