I go here every year to see the amazing display of wildflowers, and no less than 7 large water falls.

Not a bad place to spend a day, have a picnic and be lazy under an old oak tree.
The last picture is where I took a nap looking at a 200ft water fall and there's another 150ft off the the right, a bit dark, could not wait for the sun to move into the right spot:)

Similar flowers, but you have the nice deserts blooms about 1-2 months eariler.
Anza Borrego is a very good place(spotty, but ask, folks are good to inform- Elephant Tree was good this year), Joshua Tree also, the mountains off I-5 grapevine..........

Carrizo Plain is also awesome.

Many very nice spots, now in June/July, the alpine areas will be looking nice.
