Hello,

I would like to buy a digital thermometer with stainless steel probe and alarm for my planted tank. But the one I intend to buy is not necessarily for fishkeeping but for food preparation. I think the ones for food preparation are a lot more accurate and higher quality than the ones sold for aquariums.
The probe would stay all the time in the water and unit is always on.

Is this a good idea? I am concerned that the probe could corrode overtime because of the acidic water, its around ph 6.5. But I am also tired of buying inaccurate digital thermometers for aquarium use which gives wildly varying values.

Any thoughts on this or have better suggestions?

Thanks a lot for all your help.

The inflared thermometers are nice and no issues either way. No probe at all.
