small / sustainable co2 gas setup

I have been eying the ada's small pressurized co2 setup with solenoid, but it comes close to $400 if you buy all of it...

Is there anything out there that works as well, but cheaper? The tank is only 12 gallons and is in a room where the kids play and there is no hidden place to put a 5lb tank -- and the existing co2 tank for my 30 gallon cube is in another room.

so the mini set up intrigues me.. Hate to pay those prices tho.

A Paint ball setup would probably do the trick.
