    Hi forum members!

15 years of salt water tanks is behind me.... lots of work keeping them stable for fragile coral that could bleach overnight.

I have decided to do a nice planted tank as that in itself is challenging but not as demanding, will see if that changes.

    Strike up 15 May 2018
6 bags Aquasoil 1 bag Eco complete.
    Temp 26 C
    Ph 6.85 lights off
Lights 8 x 39 watt ATI Powermodule dimmable
    Tank 12 mm Starfire 900 x 600 x 480
Coast to Coast wier with Beananimal syphon
Return pump Eheim 3200 liter 80 watt
    6 kg CO2
10 liters Siporax bio media filtration/ filter sock

Looking forward to sharing the ups and downs and getting the support from this forum when the plants melt or hit the surface.

    Thanks for looking

    Thanks @burr740
Got some crypts from a friend over the weekend, will have to start figuring where they will go....
Added a bunch of fish to the tank last weekend. The fish that are meant to be there are 30 Cardinals and 20 Celestial Pearl Danio. Somehow I came up with the not so bright idea of dumping my Endlers project in there too as they shelter indoors for winter. Takes the head count to over 100 fish!!!
Heavy feeding to keep them fit and healthy.... will check the parameters this afternoon.
Last week nitrate was 25 ppm
    Ammonia 0.00 Phosphate 0.00
Fingers crossed test results are the same.

Might be due to the bacteria population taking off or the 20 percent water change. Going to do a magnesium test tonight, got absolutely no idea what number to chase , any ideas?

Was having so much fun researching parameters, forgot to update this journal. Can’t ride the wave forever, gonna have to work out the supplements and vitamins soon. No dosing yet. BTW my top up and water change water is perfect so glad there is no correction required for ph, kh or dkh. Nitrates are a bit high on top off, but Calcium and Magnesium are spot on, Yay!
Think I’ll need some Iron as the first drip and drop.
Did a bit of research into iron years ago when I had my first saltwater clams. What I found as a result of dosing iron was a quick algea bloom into the tank from this nutrient....(hated that of course)
As a delay to getting my ferts sorted I have bumped up the photo period to eek out the last bit of energy.... or maybe I don’t quite need to dose anything just yet??? 0442516A-E345-406F-BB13-B04A4BCB552E.jpeg

Did I say this was fun?
Come back from a 10 night overseas vacation to this . Big time CO2 double injection and light schedule mismatch- pretty sure it was good when I left but on arrival home things were out of sync by seasons!!!!! image.jpg
Love the FW tank more than ever, perhaps I’ll give it some attention tomorrow or the next day! For now it’s feet up and relax time. Catch up soon.
