I received from a young enthusiast (18 years old) a wild caught (by him) specimen of what I believe is a Sicydium buscki. A lovely odd looking fish. I lost the battery charger of my camera upon my return from MN (oredered one last Saturday) but I promise to post pics of it.
Thing is this fish seems at home in a densely planted tank with some algae in it. It was fastening in the young man's tank but has been munching on algae since I got him. I'm going to try to induce it to go after algae waffers.
Not much information in the web about this fish species native from Hispaniola and Cuba. It has colorful lateral lines running on both upper and lower sides of the caudal fin (like some Killifish do) and what looks to be specialized pectoral fins (forming a vent-like shape... or is it a vent with the pectoral fins around it?). The first dorsal fin is kind of spiky and really beautiful.
I took this pics with a cell phone...
Anyone has information on this species?
