Should I add epsom salt

I a previous thread Tom told be to add 3/4 tsp of epsom salts to my tank when I do a water change, although I'm not sure why. I did this but also used mostly RO water to bring my GH to 10 instead of 30.

Well my water change is coming up soon and I need an answer on weather or not I should be adding epsom salts.

I am doing a 50% water change with 2/3rds RO water and 1/3 of my tap which has a GH of 30 and a KH of 4.

Re: Should I add epsom salt

Kinda defeats the purpose of lowering the gh just to bring it back up.

If however you want to be sure there are no magnesium deficiencies, you could use a little more r/o water then add the epsom salts. Then you'd have the same gh but at least you're sure some of it is magnesium and not all calcium.

If I were in your shoes, I'd try it just to see if there's an improvement.
