Setup 29 Gallon

I have a 29 Gallon that I just set up. Lighting is 2 Hamilton Tech CF 28W 6700K twin tubes. My water is extremely hard. I want a planted tank, but don't want to go RO if I don't have too. Read about Sera Super Peat. Does anyone have any experience with lowering the hardness from an unbearable level to a level that will allow me to have a nightly planted tank.

Don't know about Sera, but Akadama soil will lower GH and mainly KH
However, with a very hard water, it will stop that effect in about 6 months or less.

Now, most plants will thrive in very hard water. Fish have to be chosen though or you reduce its life in extreme GH and KH conditions
