Self sustaining populations

Hi all,

After some years of a keeping cardinals, I find the urge to try something else. Nice fish but sort of boring

I would like to find a fish that can breed more readily and easily and keep the population ongoing over the years...

Ideally, if I can find a predator/prey relationship where the one keeps the other in check, that would be very interesting I think.

I have a 180, so I have some room, but I prefer smaller fish. So, one or two species that would occur naturally would be a lot of fun as well.

Appreciate any thoughts or suggestions on where to do research on such relationships.

What about Angels and Apisto's. The Apisto's will breed but the total poplulation will be low because of the Angels. If you provide some shelter some fry will survive and grow up. If the angels breed, the Apistos will surely catch some Angel fry.

Both species are from South America.

Nice idea! I have had and bred both, but not at the same time

I think that may work. About 6-8 nice angels to allow growth and pairing and some nice dwarfs on the bottom.

I can keep some cards as a dither fish..

I want to think about it more.....
