recommended (quiet) powerheads

Hi All,

I'm wondering if anyone can recommend a submersible powerhead that is known to run quietly. I recently purchased a rio 600+ rvt to use as my co2 diffusing pump, sadly when running it so loud it sounds like I have a weed eater running in my tank.

the rio was rated at about 200 GPH which is about what I'm looking for but could also do with a bit less power.

Any suggestions?

The ViaAqua's are pretty quiet; nothing but a soft wooshing noise while the CO2 is on.

cant go wrong with eheim, i have few pumps/powerhead around, i will till but them in order from the qutiest to the loudest:

POSEIDON P3 large pump you cant tell if its running or not till you touch it.
EHEIM 1250
OCEANRUNNER 2500 quite as the EHEIM
EHEIM COMPAT + 3000
PANWORLD 50
PANWORLD 150

Becareful when asking on noiselevel and silent material. It is very subjective. What is very loud for you will not be audible for others. In my case, anything above an Eheim Compact 1000 (300lph = 80gph) is too noisy. I tested most models listed above, exept the 1250. They are incredibly noisy in my ears. The 1250 is a watercooling emersed model that is known in watercooling to be very quiet, emersed. You have eventually to pad it with some antivibration pads.

So before throwing your money, maybe think at another way to inject CO2 if silence is the most important for you. Depending on your tank sizes, many noiseless alternatives exist (strong external pumps + external reactors inline, UP CO2 atomizer system, Boyu diffuser...)

Noise, was for me a major concern, and people always advice too noisy models (MP3 earphones generation? )

POSEIDON is the quitest pump i have seen, quiter than eheim filters , i have three 2217 filters,one 2215 handfull of rios, aquaclear.etc, you cant beat the POSEIDON , the only problem they are quite powerful and genarate some heat.
The eheim compat + are the worst pumps eheim made, you can search some other site and you will read about the compact +, i only have the 3000.
i never tried the normal compact.

and yes the panworld are noisy, i cant run them on my living room
