pulling of algea infected leaves?

    I have some fuzz algae growing on some leaves of L. Aromatica.The leaves are a few nodes down from the top of the stem. If I just pull of the infected leaves, there would be a bare spot on the stem. Will a plant grow new leaves in this area? Thanks,
