Who am I? I grow pretty fast, my leaves go in odd numbers (9, 11, 13) groups, neatly spaced.

Give a hand to Pepetj so he can share me properly identified among other local planted tank nuts.

Thank you!

Questions, Always Questions!

Hi Pepetj,

It appears to be an herbaceous legume, probably not a true aquatic plant.:gw

How long have you had it submerged?

Have you seen it flower or produce “pods?”

Have you tried growing it emersed?

Where did you get it? Is it a local plant?:cool:

The person who sold it to me identified it as Rotala sp 'Bangladesh" some hours after I post this here.

I lost track while planting several species in this tank last Friday.

I cut it soon after taking the pick and replanted them.

They're in soft/acidic water (1.25 dKH 3.5dGH; 6.2pH -uncalibrated pH reading so go figure) at 77F with 50 (exactly 50!) micromoles/m2/sec at substrate. Cheap Halogen light (they don't last long) as I work on the set up of this tank (16gal rimless cube)

I lost my Hach CO2 test kit (and most reference solutions) after recently moving so no idea on CO2 ppm (drop checker is light green).

It grew around 8 inches in length in a matter of three days!

Not of Any Real Help As Usual

Hi Pepetj,

Based on what I see, I am reasonably sure it is not Rotala sp 'Bangladesh’ or as far as I can tell, based on the leaf structure, any Rotala spp.

It reminds me of Sericea lespedeza[SUP]1[/SUP] a forage species said to have anthelmintic properties, as far as I know it is not a marginal or bog plant. (I will have to look that up.)

The stem appears woody in the photo, is it?

Growing 8-inches in three days certainly makes me think of herbaceous legumes, but then I have Rotalas that grow that fast as well…

So, I am probably not of much help, perhaps a few more pictures… :)
