    Gerry,

I finally got off the couch and suspended my lights. Fell free to place me back in the order in a place that is most convenient.

A couple of intersting links to add. May help a little.

The statement I've inserted below is quite interesting although the article it relates too is a whole 13 years ago. Its from Dana Riddle who was the guy who wrote the review of the Solaris LED system when it came out. I'll add that link too as well as a link to some picture tests done on a reef setup.

The latter picture reef one is pretty impressive. It show massive differences just by having glass covers. I start to wonder do the ADA MHs reduce their PAR to a third of others via their glass shield? A simple way of doing it rather than using poor ballasts or reflectors to reduce the PAR.:

Aquarium Light Brace study: This was a test of an aquarium that had a one inch dark plastic brace that reinforced the top of the aquarium. It absolutely killed the light in the center of the tank. But, DO NOT cut the brace out..if you've got one, you're stuck with it, it is holding the aquarium together! Same thing if you have a Plexiglas tank with an acrylic top on it…keep it clean or it will really cut down on your light transmission. Make it a regular part of maintenance.

Hope thes may be of some use or at least interest with regard how much difference rims and glas covers can make.

    Hi all,

About the PAR meter. I have obviously not sent it out and realize that I was not as comfortable as I thought about sending it out. I apologize for that and think I can get past this. It is on ME, not on you.

I have not shared any info on anyone, so no worries there. I am working on it.

I did have some issues with it working intermittently AFTER I changed the battery. It seems I had caught a wire in the casing when I closed it. I corrected that and seems fine since.

    But you need to know.

    More to come...

    Those things are hideously ugly.
I use wire zips, pro lookign and much nicer.

Make a simple loop to hand the wire cables ontothe light rail/bar.

Then add the zips to the fixture.

Coralife, several other companies make them etc........cost about the same as those ugly plastic thingys.

    Regards,

I think local club use works best, or buy it, then sell forward type of thing.

Then you only pay a little bit for ship, and say knock 20$ off the total sale price to th next person.

    Around it goes.

    Regards,

Everyone is entitled to an opinion. Both my wife and I like them and they work just fine.

    Hi,

In an earlier post I mentioned my discomfort with parting with my meter at this time, so noone has it but me.

If I don't loan it out, noone can measure.

I am working through it but have no idea if I will be successful.

If you don't feel right about it, you don't need to do it. Your call. And no hard feelings here.

I'd post my favorite clip from "The Last Boy Scout" but the language is a bit beyond PG.
