IMO: I have too see how much is coming out of the co2 regulator, You can pick up a bubble counter real cheap on eBay for like $4. or make your own with a baby jar or pop bottle.
You can also use a cup of water to get your flow going to were you want it an run it 24/7 {if you don't have a good needle valve the bubble count will drift and crash your tank an kill all your fish} But I would use a solenoid valve and controller to shut it off when the idea ph is reach

I do not use a bubble counter.
I use a needle wheel and the c02 line is positioned under the PH, so I can see the bubbles going into it.
However, when I had a mazzei, I simply used a cup of water in a glass from time to time to compare.
You can usually tell when your c02 is not working...takes some time and experience though....

I don't think that it can't be done if you didn't have any thing to show you that you can supply co2 accurately into a tank with out killing every thing or not enough.
If you didn't want to use a bubble counter you could bubble in real low {like 1 bps} an run it 24/7 with a Drop checker and keeping an eye on your fish at leas to let you know where your at an tweak it , With your regulator you wouldn't have to worry about drifting or end of tank dumping.
It's done safely with a DIY co2 setup, it runs 24/7 with out a bubble counter .
ME I would use some kind of bubble counter to supply co2 accurately into my tank .
How do you like the Atomic diffuser , I plan on picking one up my self to from GLA also for back up for my Mazzie but right now I'm getting some fine micro mist with it.
