Hi all,

I have a constant reading of 25ppm nitrate in my tank. I've always put it down to the amount of fish i have.

I decided to bring a water sample into work with me tonight and asked the chemist to run a NITRATE test on it, he came up with 4ppm.

which one is correct?

My money would be on the chemist!:D

Hobby test kits are notorious for inaccuracy and even expensive test kits require calibration. There are some good instructions around here for calibrating test kits.;)

Generally don't bother, dose, weekly water changes, pay attention to the plants and critters.

Hi,

It would depend on the test you and the chemist used and then how recently and accurately each was calibrated.

They are both nitrate tests correct?
