I came across an electronic CO2 generator on ebay specifically designed for aquarium use up to 120litre volume. It uses a carbon plate i believe to generate CO2. The plate is replaceable. Anyone have any experience or knowledge of the above unit?

Yea, going way back, stay away from the darn thing.
    Cost more, has several issues.
Really does not do well on tanks about 50-60 gallons.
    Plate and holder corrode rapidly.
Bottom line is that you get better results with the gas tanks, much more available parts, suppliers etc, stick with those.
