Hi All,

After playing with a DIY needle wheel impeller mod (and that I need a new pump), I'm going to buy a needle wheel pump. I was looking at the RIO + and the needle wheel conversion kit from TAAMs website, but their e-mail is disabled and they don't return calls (out of business??). I am soliciting any info from you all on recommendations for other brands/ styles.

Also, what is your experience witht he "pinwheel" type versus others? I can buy strictly a pinwheel impeller for a Rio on e-bay, but wanted to get feedback first.

Thanks in advance,

I am using an Eheim 1103 compact+ marine needle wheel pump. It has a variable output from 211 to 713 gph. I have it plumped inline with my Eheim 2028 canister filter, UV sterilizer and Hydor inline heater using Eheim's 16/22mm (5/8" ID) tubing. I have plenty of flow in my 40 breeder with this setup. The CO[sub]2[/sub] gets dispersed very well too.

Some people use the Danner Model Supreme Pumps w/ Fractionating Impeller with very good success. There are several different models to chose from.
