Hey everyone,

I have been browsing this site for about a month now and it has greatly helped me prepare for my CO2 regulator build for my new 55 gallon planted tank. I thought I was all ready to go and bought all of the pieces and was excited to begin my build Thursday night, but ran into the problem of my CGA 320 nipple not fitting into my regulator :( The links to the regulator and to the CGA 320 nipple/nut I bought are below:

My question is, has anyone ever had this problem before? Is the input of my regulator not the standard size, or perhaps the nipple from Amazon was made poorly and is the incorrect size? I cannot find many builds using this regulator but I did find some ones that were sold in the past.

Is there any advice on what I can do from here? Unfortunately I cannot return the regulator, but if it was to be unusable I guess I could try and sell it on my own and buy a new one (I paid $125 for this regulator with the shipping included, not the $250 listed).

Any advice and/or assistance would be greatly appreciated! Thank you in advance.

Best Regards,

Alex

Specs for that regulator state 1/4" NPT female ports.

Some cheap single stage regulators have a left hand threaded 1/4" NPT port.
Just throwing this out there.

Is the stem you purchased with nut a right hand thread?

Thanks for the reply Phishless. I was unsure about this as well. The CGA320 Nipple description states it has right handed threads, but they looked off for me. I drove to Lowe's this evening and an employee that it was actually a left hand thread so that's why it was not working.

This had been driving me crazy for several days so I am relieved to have finally gotten to the bottom of it. Amazon is helping me with the return and I ordered a new nipple/nut which will arrive Monday. This was the first step of the regulator build and I was very frustrated to have already run into a problem. Hopefully, this will be the only one! Thanks for your input, it is appreciated.
