    Hiya peeps,

My main display is a 240 gallon planted discus tank. Tank is drilled with center overflow, dual 1.5" drains (herbie style) to a 60g wet/dry sump. CO2 injection via 4x20" Cerges reactor plumbed in its own loop. Nothing fancy for substrate; just EcoComplete.

EI dosing. BuildmyLED 10,000k original series for lighting.

Here are a few pics: =)

Brilliant stuff! How are you managing with the EI dosing?

I'm running a much smaller planted discus tank and finding my nitrate readings are a bit higher than I'd like with EI.

Looks terrific. Did you find any difficulty selecting plants for water parameters that are compatible with discus? How long has it been up?

Gorgeous! Do they breed with that many in the tank or are you not working toward breeding?

My nitrates generally read higher than you'd normally see or hear as being favorable for a discus tank. I'm not dosing full EI on the KNO3 as a result. They are quite the waste machines. haha

Thanks! To answer your questions, if there was a plant I wanted to try, I just went ahead and planted it. Some worked out beautifully, some I dont' have much success with. The tank has been up about a year and a half now, and was an upgrade to my previous discus tank, which was a canister filtered 125g.

I've had several pair off and lay eggs; usually right after the weekly water change. None of them have ever made it to wiggler stage though, either due to inexperience on the parents part, or what have you. Which is fine by me; I have no aspirations towards breeding them, as I dont' have spare tanks for growout.
