    Hi,

I have read in one of the posts here that tropica liquid fertilizer is good to use for traces. I have now one dosing pomp where I use tropica micro and macro fertilizer. I am thinking about switching to EI and keeping tropica as source for micro. Do you think I could run into problems by mixing tropica fertilizer with macro salts from EI recipe? I need to use dosing pump when I am away. Cost of another dosing pump will probably not justify switching to EI.

There shouldn't be any problems. Tropica, and all other liquid fertz companies, use dry salts and metals and dilute with water and package it into a bottle.

There is a possibility that phosphate will bind iron into an insoluble compound if the two are mixed. That is why micros and macros are alternately dosed in the first place in EI. There is a way to insure that won't happen, something about the pH level of the solution but don't just dump all the nutrients together in the proper ratio and expect it to work out.

There's already some phosphate in Tropica product, so I expect chelates have the right quality
