Hello, I am new to this forum, so please be gentle. I consider myself a beginning intermediate aquatic plant person. Currently, I have set up a 30gallon tall, 30x12x22
144watts CFL. internal filter. 2-3mm river gravel/flourite substrate. Wanting to grow Apotogeton crispus, Echinodoras "ozelot" and hopefully one feathery stem plant(cabomba, Myriphyllum, etc.,). I already have Crinum thianum, crypt. spiralis, and Anubis barteri established. Pushing my ph down to 6.2 with CO2 injection. Gh3Kh4, just dosed KNO3,K2SO4, "Seachem" flourish.

The first 4 days, no response. I'm thinking maybe I need to invest in a MH 150w? Or am I being a bit hasty? Dont know the depth 150watts will reach? etc.,.

Patience.

Give things 2-3 weeks before.

I think you have more than enough light to grow ANY plant, more is not better.

Thanks Tom, if I'm hearing you correctly: you think I might be getting enough light penetrating 21-22 inches of water, from the CFL's?

Clay

Certainly,

Example at 34" from lights to plants:

This is at 110W at a 60 gal tank:
