I'll try to make this short - I recently planted (about 4-5 weeks ago) my first tank (longtime fishkeeper though.... six/seven tanks at one point). I researched it to DEATH before I took the plunge...

Setup info below-
Tonight while cleaning out an empty biorb, which has been sitting in my laundry room for over a week with no water, I found a tiny little shrimp!
Kinda freaked out, and put him in the planted tank.
15 minutes later I come in here to work on it - it's in HORRIBLE shape; more algae than plants, the plants are nearly all half dead - but I saw TWO CREATURES I'VE NEVER SEEN BEFORE - and I've been keep fishing for more than 30 years.

Can't find the tiny survivor shrimp - probably gorging on algae.
I did take some pics, so any help would be beyond greatly appreciated. And I know my tank looks doomed, but I'm determined to learn....didn't realize how steep that curve is.

Fingers crossed that I can add pics
