Emerged Marsilea quadrifolia, Marsilea drummondii from Marsilea hirsute[/h] Hi,

The plants are fairly easy to distinguish in the emersed form. All of them grow easily in standing (not stagnant) water, in really moist or wet soil and even in fairly dry soil as long as the humidity stays high.

The leaves of the emersed form will not transition to submerged form and generally we remove them when submerging the plants as they only suck up resources and will eventually rot.

Hi,

I am pretty sure that is Marsilea hirsuta Marsilea, but it is hard to tell Marsilea quadrifolia, Marsilea drummondii from Marsilea hirsute, in the submersed form.

The problem is the submerged leaves can take on several different forms depending on water condition and plant development.

The only way I am sure is to grow them emersed.

Any follow up please reply in a post as though this were posted, thank you.

Sandeep,
What's the substrate you are using for your Marselia.
I've seen single leaf and 3-4 clove leafs from the same plant...

I am using ADA Amazonia for substrate.
The four clove leaf structure appears in emerged form, when plant is submerged it loses these leaves, and single lobed leaves appear.
I have some plants with three lobed leaves.
Thinking of trying to grow it emerged.
BTW can anyone tell what is difference between these two in emerged form
