So depending on what I read, T5's lose spectrum after 6 mos or so, PC's same thing, or PC's hold spectrum till they quit entirely, T5's are good for a year or more, what's really the deal?

My T5's are guaranteed for 10.000 hours. Based on 10 hours per day that's 1000 days, or 3 years.

What I've heared is that T5's don't go under 90% efficiency during that time.

I think they are similar to PC's in this respect, I got 5-7 years out of my old PC lights from a few years back.

2 of the 8 or so, never died..........
Once every 3-4 years seems okay.

Back when supercoley posted here more frequently, he told me that it was about whether the ballast is programmed or quick start. Programmed last far longer, but T5NO and CF are almost universally quick start, where as T5HO are programmed. He used programmed start T8's for a lot of his lighting. The reading I've done on the side from a lot of commercial sites seem to agree with his line of thought, though I found it almost an impossibility to get good information from a source that wasn't toeing a company line.
