    Hi Gurus,

Just want to ask if the one the that i bought from Amazon is correct? I just bought a KNO3 in Amazon Germany (i am from Austria) and it says that the product is used for preserving food. I smelled the foil package and it is indeed it has some kind of aromatic fragrance. It is safe to place this in the aquarium as a source of Potassium and Nitrate?

    Lg, Bert

KNO3 is the E252 preservative used for cured pork sausages and salame. At least in Italy, it is a mandatory ingredient (by the law), even in the "organic" sausages, because it is the only way to be sure that bacterium Clostridium botulinum will not reproduce in the processed meat. If you bought the E252 sold on Amazon, it should be pure potassium nitrate, without additives, so perfectly safe to use in the aquarium.
