I have 55g planted tank. High fish load. Good amount of plants now. Doing the Seacham Ei dosing now until i get a CO2 setup and dry ferts.

Non-calibrated test kit API drop tests.
PH 7.2
KH turned with 1/2 a drop
GH 13
Nitrate 10

My concern is my levels.
I had just added day 1 dosing few hours before testing - Excel 25ml, Iron 5.5ml, Fourish 4.6ml, Nitrogen 3.4ml and waiting for phosphorous to come in.

Should i worry about raising my KH to say 4-5 or just leave that alone?

Gh should be fine at 13 right?

Should i invest in any other test kits?

Hi,

I can't help as much as I would like, but I would scrap buying test kits if you are going to follow EI dosing with dry ferts. You even say that your ph kit is uncalibrated.

Most hobbyist test kits are not that accurate and are a waste of money.

I think your gh and kh are okay.....

Remember that carbon is one of the most important plant nutrients.

You can dose other ferts to your hearts content, but w/o c02 they are not used as optimally.

Get your c02 hooked up, dose EI to start, and go from there.

I got my hands on a pair of Co2 tanks, just waiting for my buddy to drop them off. And seeing if i can find a regulator close by, else i plan on buying Rex's i guess.
