Ok there has been quite alot of chat on here about what can you offer UKAPS etc. IMHO I think that what we have to do is distribute specific jobs to individuals or teams. If we do not do this then we could find ourselves with 10 people trying to do one job and no one doing another.
If we use the Festival of Fishkeeping as an intial starting point then we can organise accordingly ie
1. Sponsorship
2. Aquistion of hardware
3. Aquisition of hardscape/flora and fauna
4. Transport of materials to event
5. Advertising
6. Aquascape design
And so on (feel free to add to the list). There are loads of jobs that can be spread out amongst those that wish to offer their services. I am quite happy to contact various manufacturers for sponsorship/hardware, although you may feel that there is someone else better qualified. I bet you are all thinking George, he has awesome contacts, but one man can not do it all, infact the first name that springs to mind for most jobs is George! But what do you expect when you are regarded as the UK's high tech planted tank expert.
Now I know that at the moment 'we' do not want to have an elected leadership group, but I firmly believe that it is instrumental to the societies future and growth that we do have a focal point ie someone who coordinates all the information and resources from those doing a job. Failure to do this may lead to a conflict of interests that can lead to ill feeling amongst members.
I do not want that to sound all doom and gloom but in my experience the proverb 'Too many cooks spoil the broth' can be very true. All I want, which I believe is the same as the rest of you, is a successful and prosperous future for our society.
