I'm not sure why the Irish give Turkeys to their Piranha?

I understand Thanksgiving is an USA colonial thing(Very bad deal/idea for the Indians here), so why the Irish giving a turkey to the fish? I'm sure they where pleased.

One of the more strange tidbit aquarium articles I've seen.
