I am going away for 8 days. I have 55 gallon heavly planted tank. I am planing to get automatic feeder for my fish. But I do not know what I should do about fertilizers while I am away. currenlty I do EI dosing. I am worried about my plants dying or tank filling with Algaes when I come back. Should I lower the hours of light and co2 injection since there will be no fertlizer dosing for 8 days? Need suggestion please.

Change water before you leave and dose for an entire week at once. No problem. That's all. Make sure you won't run out of CO2.

    Hi,

Lowering the light duration and/or intensity will also help. I lower both when I go away but leave c02 the same. I also dose EI heavily just before I walk out the door :)

Do a large water change or two PRIOR to leaving if possible in addition to dutchy's advice.

Can someone come in mid-week just to check?

    Thanks Dutchy and Gerry
I will do 75% water change and dose for whole week. As per your suggestion i will lower the duration (don't have control over intensity) and will leave co2 as the same.
    Regards
