How to build customized light fixture with Metal Halide + Compact fluorescent lamp???

I know nothing about electronic, well just a bit I learnt from TV.

I figure out I need one 100w/150wmetal halide + two maybe more Compact fluorescent lamps for quick start up.

What ballast and switch control can I use? and how to wire them to certain configuration, for example, I want two white light on, and two blue light off...... are these thing a lot to ask for?

REASON why I don't want to buy commercially available lighting is THAT they are FUGLY as true as they are not warranted LONGER than 3 months, I learn of these from my experience in China and Hong Kong's fish stores....... I hate them.

why not with LED's? energy eficient, selectable light spectrum and long time life span.
