Finally going to stock my tank this week and was wondering how many cardinal tetras I could go with in my 33 gal Mr. Aqua. Tank is 24x17x17. I'm going with a couple checkerboards but would love to have a nice group of schoolers. What is a safe maximum number I could go with? Filtration shouldn't be an issue as I run a sump so the limiting factor is mainly space. Let me know what you think if you could.

Just go for it, any amount of bioload could be handled by a good filtration unit. Good luck.

Are you going with the dwarf checkerboards? A group of 8-12 cardinals, if wanted a specific number. Keep in mind, though, cardinals can get up to an inch. I have gotten some in at my shop that were and inch & change. Green neon are another option, and just as pretty.
