Wow, this concept has grown. I signed up for the barr report when I first read Tom's post on the APD listserver where I've been lurking for a year (I love listening to you guys argue.:)). I finally decided to come back and check it out after Craig convinced me to try EI to get through an algae fest in my tank after the KNO3 bottomed out. As I'm sure you know, the tank cleared up beautifully in about two weeks. I took my CO2 off the Ph monitor and put it on a timer and its been smooth sailing ever since.

Now I'm working on convincing people in the plant section on my home board. So, thanks for the sharing the knowledge and for providing this forum.

Hi Erin,

The arguing is not personal, well, it's not suppose to be anyhow:)
The proof is in the pudding, you add KH2PO4(or more CO2 etc) and you get awesome plant growth and a reduction in algae.

Main thing is getting folks to do the CO2 right in most cases(90%+).
Once they get that stable and in a good range, EI works great and is simple and easy. You can play around with it, you are not bound to do the example, you can try 1/4 or 2X the amounts, see what changing the amount does for one nutrient at a time for example.

In this manner you can rapidly and easily test many things with reasonable precision.
Hope you enjoy it here and bother folks all over on your local board. That's what you want to see! They are happy when their plants are happy. If you can help them to greow weeds better, then they will rethink some things.

Happy plants= happy fish= happy hobbyists.

Regards,
Tom Barr

Re: Hello

:) to all of you out there, tom's EI is the best thing to come along in years.we all needed a simple dosage plan to make our tanks look nice.but we must remember to be consistant, that is a must, also a little patence go's a long way to acheive our goal. my hat is off to you tom for making this a reality. :) :) regards, cornhusker
