I was wondering if I could use a heating mat/pad like the reptile ones under a small 35Ltr aquarium?

In conjunction with something like a hydroset controller would it produce enough heat to raise the temp to 26ºC?

To coin a well known phrase on this forum (he, he) It would be more 'crap out of the tank'

Sure, I suggested this years ago, so did many, but the heating cable folks had a cow, claiming their device created convection currents where this would not:rolleyes:

Uh huh.......

Works well for small tanks though where a big old heater is no good.

I have been using a mat heater on my 45Ltr for the past 6 months and it has worked fine at keeping the temp @ 24C.

You can view opinions of the APD and use the search engine etc for the reptile mats.

No need for junk in the tank.

Do you need controllers with them? or can they be used without. I want to keep pygmy corys and celestial rasboras in this little tank.
