Hi everyone,

I'm currently growing some HC emersed and having a bit of a problem with bubble-shaped algae growing on my substrate (AS Amazonia I). Here's a link to the tank journal.

I was wondering if I should use some Excel to help curb the algae growth. Would it do any good? Would the lack of water harm the HC?

If it doesn't, how much Excel should I use? (ie. approximately how much should I add to a spray bottle with 10 oz. of water?)

Thanks in advance for your help.

I think it's because you actualy already flooded your tank. The substrate needs to be moist.... not soaking wet. Dont know if it would help to put anything in the water, I would say dry it out a bit.

Hi,

You need to let that substrate dry some asap.....Arnie is right on...

Go back and read the DSM original thread by Tom. Many replies with good info. Do more searches as well, as many later threads are informative with many examples....

It needs to be moist/damp not wet like you have.

Think 'damp' substrate and humid conditions but no water in it per se...should not pool either....
