I have a Walstad style low-tech freshwater planted tank (40G). Tank gets some indirect sunlight through window for about 3-4 hours a day.
I also have 27W CFL white which I keep switched on for about 10 hours/day. This is home for about 18 Neon Tetra and lot of plants like cobomba, baby tears, amazon, and some others which I havent identified yet. All flora & fauna are doing very well.
Here is the problem:
Since past 2-3 days I am observing that new leaves on a plant (dont know name
) which were initially fresh-light-green have started turning
brown, thin & transparent before reaching their full size/shape. It is as if they are melting away. The old leaves which have red color are doing fine. All other plants are doing fine. I feed the fish liberally to serve as fertilizer. Other than that I do not have any specific dosing routine.
Please let me know what is causing this degradation of the new leaves? Is there any specific name for this phenomenon?
I know pics would help, but I don't have any at the moment. I can put some tomorrow if needed.
Thanks & Regards,
Jatin
