About two to three weeks after beginning the germination process of about 15 to 25 Eriocaulon seeds (Hainan Island if I remember correctly) I was just checking my other emersed setups and noticed that their were leaves sprouting.

This is my first successful time growing Eriocaulon seeds, even though I ordered and received more seeds just last week (Hainan Island, Phu Yen River, King Crimson, and Heimesilatama). I ordered these from two different suppliers so I don’t know if I will will have successful results with the newly arrived seeds.

I’m not quite sure about when the right time to transition the Eriocaulons from emersed to submersed and move them into the tank. Even though they are in a highly humid environment I will still make sure to put them into a tank that is rich with CO2 in order to avoid melt.

So I’m ready to germinate the new seeds:
    Hainan Island,
    Phu Yen River,
    King Crimson,
    and Heimesilatama...
I have around 15 to 30 of each species and not as many plastic containers to plant all of them.

I bought a seed germination kit from Home Depot a while back and just now set it up (All it required was filling it with water). I believe it uses peat moss as a substrate for the seeds to grow in, it holds humidity surprisingly well and do you think this would be a suitable container and substrate for Eriocaulon seeds?

Plants are looking great (as far as I can tell) I’ve seen some good growth although they’re still <1/8”. Here are some photos...

I decided to put one of the plastic containers inside of one of my tanks running high CO2 and they’re still alive so that’s a plus.

Here is a pic of the container submerged it’s been flooded for about 5-6 days now and hasn’t melted, although I think I’ve lost a few to shrimp picking at it... I’m sure I’ll find them rooted wherever the current took them in a month or so.
