    Hi everyone.

I’m in the midst of rebuilding my tank which involves building a new wet/dry trickle filter.

The question I have revolves around the location of the main water pump.

I’ve previously had it installed in the sump which works fine apart from the odd time when the pump move enough for the output line to run and vibrate on the lids.

I was thinking of mounting the pump externally (with ball valves and unions for maintenance purposes,) on the new setup and wondered if there are any other members here, who have done that? And if you have, have you found any draw backs or reasons not to such as noise?

    Many thanks in advance!
