Eheim making bubbles

Hi,

One of my Eheim 2078e's starts to blow out streams of bubbles halfway the photoperiod, which gets worse as the photoperiod continues. Just after lights switch on there are no bubbles.

The filter is clean and gaskets have been replaced.

Now this would tell me that the filter takes in O2 saturated water and blows out the O2 again. But if this is the case, why only one filter does it?

Basically no problem, but the bubble streams are so big that it makes the tank look like aqua seltzer.

Sounds familiar? Solutions?

Well, if the filter was mature, needed a little cleaning, then the higher dissolve gas during the middle/end of the day(both cO2 and O2 increase in planted tanks quite a bit), then all the bacteria might cause this, but if it's clean, might be a tiny leak? Or some air in it somewhere?

I replaced the gaskets. It's a mature filter, I cleaned it but it doesn't make a difference. yesterday I added a small Eheim which also started to do the same at the end of the photoperiod.

So it has to be the high CO2/O2 that accumulates in the filter....

Not much to cure this, I'm afraid...

Happens to my 2213 too once the co2 starts. But when the solenoid shuts off it goes back to its quiet self.

You said this problem happened with only one filter.
If I remember it right, normally you use two Eheims and each one connected to a reactor?

I would try changing the two filters around. I think the problem may be
at one of the inlet pipes, or its position may be prone to suck O2 in
more than another one.

I'm using only one reactor at the moment. Just to see what's the result. Seems to do well also btw. Typically the one that's blowing bubbles is the one without a reactor. The other might do the same but maybe it doesn't show because the reactor acts as an expansion canister and dissolve the O2 more.

I'll try to interchange some components to see how this influences things.

If you listen, you might just hear a whistle sound.

I was thinking the same thing, sort of. I am about to try something, on my intake (I mIxed up the Eheim spraybar with the top intake section) I now have two little openings fitted with Eheim's directional flow doodads. When I want (because I'm over the idea of changing to the correct fitting) air bubbles, I adjust them to point up. Mostly, I can point it downward and it just sucks water from 2" bellow the water's surface . If it's noisy in the morning I'll let you know. If I forget to top off the tank for a day or two, it will suck air for sure.
