I want to do E.I. on my 10 gal. but I do not want to do CO2 injection.

I have 26 watts PC on the tank, and I use Flourish Excel for Carbon. About how much will I need to dose to equal good CO2 levels. Is the recommended dosage on the bottle correct, or should I add more?

Thanks for your help

Re: E.I. and Flourish Excel

I use EI on my 15gallon and 10gallon tanks with Excel. I follow the label instructions, faithfully.

And I assume that everything works, no algae growth, and good plant growth?

I'd add about 1.5x the rec dosing.

They give relatively conservative amounts, but experiences have shown that more can be added, not a great deal more, without issues to fish health.

I'd only use about 1/2 the EI recs using Excel.

Do you mean half the recommended doses of KNO3/KH2PO4, traces? Or halve the frequency of doses....

My healthiest tank is a 10 gallon using UGF: great growth and no algae. The
others had a small amount of thread algae but it's disappearing. I will try
increasing the Excel to 1.5 rec dose.
