i have a piece of driftwood that I would like to use as I just purchased it, however, when cleaning it (water hose) there are some soft spots running along the base. I have cleaned out the loose wood with a screw driver. The soft section is very light in color. The rest of the piece is very dark and appears to be hard. I have it soaking in a thirty five gallon tote as it is about 36" long as it is a floater right now weighted down with a rock. Plans are to replace the water every couple days. Has anyone else encountered this problem? I'm concerned with the soft section.
