Hi all,

Some weeks ago I was using Easycarbo (comparable to Excel) to see if I could solve a small issue on one plantgroup. After two weeks on friday I stopped, it didn't help. On saturday I changed 50% water. Three days later my apistos, angels and discusfish all start to breed at the same time. Luck? Could be. Very likely to be luck? Possibly not. Temperatures didn't change.

Has anyone here noticed if easycarbo / excel impairs breeding?

regards,
dutchy

Where Are The Three Princes of Serendip When We Need Them?

Hi Dutchy,

I have had a similar experience with Angelfish, I had been using Excel, actually Cidex, when I stopped, it appeared many more surviving to the fry stage. :)

In a large community tank it is hard to say for sure, but almost immediately on discontinuing Excel the numbers of wrigglers immediately increased and the numbers of fry surviving have been stunning. :D The numbers of eggs per pair seem the same as before.

I had been assuming that if anything the highly dilute biocide would if anything promote fry development by reducing mold and fungus.
