dear friends
i am in the process of making a chiller for my 400 litre planted tank.i will be using the compressor, condensor and evaporator etc. as found in home airconditioner to make the chiller.
the heat exchanger ( where tank water meets the cooling evaporator coils) has to be built now. i am planning to use aluminium tubing for the evaporator coils as titanium itube isnt available with my supplier.
my question to you is will planted tank water while flowing over aluminium tubes cause any harm to flora and fauna of my tank? copper tubing does harm the tank inmates. so i have chosen aluminium .
will someone help please?
thanks

Re: DIY chiller question

Al should not as long as it's not too acidic, Al3+ can be toxic.
Most folks in Singapore use small computer fans to cool the tanks.
