I think it's very bad form to do that to anyone that's trying to present or help folks.
You wait and tell them later if there's some issues.
I often ask questions but they often come out a bit harsh, I'm really easy going in person.

Just wanted to remind everyone that the SVAS meeting will be tomorrow night! Also, don't forget that the Aquatic Gardeners Association Convention will be November 10-12 in San Francisco.

The SVAS main website has been down. We have a new website as of last
night, but it may still have some outdated information on it. We do
not yet know if the main website will eventually go back to its old
name or we will be keeping the new one. We hope to have all these
technical difficulties worked out with our website providers very soon.

The new website is: siliconvalleyaquarium dot info

See you tomorrow night!!

P.S. I'll be giving out a handout summarizing all the different ways to prevent algae, sources, etc. I'll put the handout either on our website or at our yahoo group for people to grab.

Under dosing regime (the star) it says: Traces have to be dosed on different days than other ferts (macros). Alternate between the traces and macros.

Why does it have to?

Phosphate and iron will form a precipitate which will leave the iron on top of the substrate and not in solution with the water. So, you shouldn't dose phosphates and iron at the same time. But, I understand that a few hours between dosing them is adequate.

yep it's the iron and phosphate. However, since i only need to dose the macros and the traces 3x a week, it's easy just to alternate so i can dump it in while I feed the fish in the morning.

I've dosed TMG at the same time for a number of years without issue.

But given that TMG, Flourish cost a fair amount relative to the others, it might help to get better time out of the Fe in the water column this way.

I think it also makes an easier habit for many folks, rather than every other day for dosing, but many cannot do things but 2-3x a week.

I do not care for the chelator.

I'm coming up with a gluconate and DTPH chelator mix( 75% DTPH 25% Gluconate) for not just Fe, but all the trace metals that will be sold as a dry or maybe a cheap liquid version.

Still looking into it.
It's very possible to do, I'd just rather have a company do it in a large volume and take any such burdens off myself or others trying to make it themselves from the raw chemicals.

Great info posted here after the meeting, so to keep it available for folks have created a thread in the forums. :)
