How do you define Heavily planted?

In my struggle with various algae, alot of the time, im asked if i have enough plant biomass..... well...

    what's "enough"

It depends on plants i guess, fast growers etc... but still, there must be a few guidelines somewhere...

how would you define my tank?

It's not all that pretty right now.. i've been pulling out algae infested plants...

I would say that it is somewhat in the middle. How old is this setup? To me it looks like it was planted very recently and plants did not have time to grow in well.

    Regards.

    Vladimir.

I replanted 4 or 5 stem plants on the left side, but the tank itself is about 6 months old.

i tore down most of the left side because of the algae...hairalgae...

I pack a tank as much as I can in the start, then thin it out later, but 60-70% planted surface area is a good number.

Total biomass is better though, a tank can have 100% coverage and low biomass, and a tank can have 50% but the sword takes over the tank etc.

Basically, all the light is being used for the plants is yet another definition, one I like personally.
